Improved local access to life-changing dental treatment

Access to life-changing dental implant treatment in Gloucestershire is being improved, as a local dentist hosts special events in Painswick and Stroud to offer free consultations and advice.

Dr Colin Neil of Confident Dental Care and Implants Centre in Stroud will be running free of charge community events in Painswick and Stroud in March and May respectively. The events, held locally at The Painswick Centre, Bisley Street, Painswick on the 5th March 10am-1pm and The Subscription Rooms, George Street, Stroud, on 7th May 10am-1pm aim to open up access to life-changing dental treatment, and give local people who may otherwise be unaware of the many benefits of dental implant treatment, more options when it comes to their dental health.

Dr Colin Neil says: “Living with missing teeth not only affects your confidence, but can also seriously affect your health and quality of life. Whether you have a single missing tooth, or old failing crowns or bridges, have multiple gaps or are living with a full set of dentures, you may have difficulty speaking or even eating the foods you like.

“Dental implants offer a long term, fixed solution to missing teeth, restoring quality of life. They look, feel and function as closely as possible to the real thing – many patients tell us that implant treatment is as good as having their natural teeth back.”

Dr Colin Neil will be offering free preliminary consultations at the events, enabling individuals to discuss their needs and find out more about the treatment process. The number of places for free preliminary consultations are limited at each event so do please contact the clinic on 01453 764287 as soon as possible, quoting “free implant information event” to secure your place.

As an examiner and tutor for the Royal College of Surgeon’s Diploma in Implant Dentistry course and examiner and tutor for the University of Warwick’s Implant Dentistry Master’s Degree programme, Dr Neil is a highly qualified oral implant surgeon with years of experience in providing all aspects of implant treatment with exacting scientifically proven techniques to achieve outstanding results, including in-house sedation, cone beam CT scanning, computer guided surgery and bone/sinus grafting if required.

Patients are referred to Dr Neil from many local dentists and across the country but patients do not need a referral to receive implant treatment, or even be registered at a dental practice, many patients contact Confident Dental Implants Centre in Stroud first to receive implant treatment directly. If patients do have their own dentist, the final restorative treatment can sometimes also be completed by their own dentist, as Dr Neil offers training to allow general dental practitioners to fit the new implant tooth or teeth on top of the implant(s), once Dr Neil has first reviewed and confirmed complete healing of the implant(s).

Mrs Wyatt, one of many local patients of Dr Neil’s who previously opted for dental implant treatment, explains how it has changed her life: “With my new teeth I can eat everything I want, including nuts, fruit and beef. The teeth feel very comfortable and look brilliant.  My friends are very envious.”

Dr Neil adds: “Each patient has individual requirements and we will be able to discuss all alternatives with you. To be sure of the specific benefits for you and the cost of your treatment, the best thing is to come in and see me. Implant treatment is almost always considered the “gold standard” option for restoring missing or failing natural teeth and this can also be provided cost effectively and locally with us. Ultimately it is an investment you choose to make in your health and general well-being. Our patients are delighted and so often tell us they wish they had found us sooner so they could have benefitted from the many advantages of implant treatment sooner”. The forthcoming free patient information events will include some of our previous implant patients for you to meet and learn about their experience with implant treatment and how this could enhance your quality of life too. There will be complimentary refreshments so please come along with a friend or family member if you wish. We look forward to meeting you.

For more information, or to book an appointment at either of the events, please contact Confident Dental Care and Implants Centre on 01453 764287 or visit www.confident-dental-implants.co.uk

The number of people in the UK who could benefit from dental implants runs into the millions. At least six percent of adults have no teeth at all, almost twenty percent wear dentures and many more have gaps filled by bridgework.*

Dental implants: A dental implant is a small titanium fixture used to replace lost or failing tooth roots, to provide support for replacement teeth. They can be used to replace missing or failing teeth, support single crowns and fixed bridges, retain full dentures and to replace full and partial dentures.

Patient advantages: Dental implants mean an end to uncomfortable dentures and loose bridgework.  Dental implants look and function as closely as possible to natural teeth, allowing the patient to eat, talk, smile, laugh and kiss with confidence.  Facial and gum vitality are maintained.

Clinical advantages: With dental implants there is no need to involve the adjacent teeth as there is with conventional bridge work.  Implants are as firm as natural teeth, can last a lifetime, and are cost-effective in the long term.  Continued use of the supporting bone prevents the shrinking associated with conventional denture use.
